Progress Park on Indiana Street

Dogpatch Neighborhood Street Park ... thanks to SF DPW, Caltrans & SFPA

Neighbors and Friends -

You are invited to the ONE YEAR anniversary of Progress Park with a toast to the newly installed Penelope the Cow - big thanks to Dennis Kalaf & Shelley Arrowsmith for the gift to the new SF Street Park in Dogpatch.  Penelope, formerly known in the 2001 Sonoma Cows as Animal was a gift to the park.  Thank you Heidi Becker for the update and installation.

Food trucks, music, bocce ball games and maybe a horse shoe tournament will be available.  We plan to end the event with an early evening "make a wish for another year" Japanese sky lanterns launch.  Join us.

You may have seen the recent article in the Potrero View on a Green Benefits District (GBD) for Potrero Hill/Dogpatch or the workshop recently held at Rickshaw Bagworks one week ago.  I'll have background information with me and a few members of the Formation Committee - all local residents and businesses - will be available.

In addition, we expect to give you an update on the Progress Park extensions on 25th Street (btwn Indiana and Minnesota), southeast corner of Iowa and 23rd with a new DG pathway and upcoming work on Pennsylvania (btwn 23rd and 22nd).  Present other potential street park locations available for local stewardship.

One important topic will be street lighting in the area underneath the 280 freeway along Iowa between 22nd and 25th Street where none exist today - a preliminary discussion plan will be available for review.  Next step is to review with SFPUC, Caltrans, SF Planning and Supervisor Cohen's office.  Give us your feedback on the next steps.

In addition, Jake and I promise to have Progress Park solar lighting available by 05/11 to showcase sustainability lighting sources "off-the-grid" in public green spaces.

Another topic - parking meters in Dogpatch.  Everyone has an opinion.  For those living south of 23rd Street in Dogpatch - affectionately known as Baja Dogpatch, we should have a large map to showcase a neighborhood-initiated proposal for parking meter placement to share with SFMTA and Supervisor Cohen.

Well - join us for the fun, but plan to give us your thoughts on neighborhood parks, street lighting and parking meters during the event.

Bring your balls for bocce and a few friends.  Look forward to a fun neighborhood event milestone.

Enjoy the weekend -
